rip off

don't read this if you haven't seen Avatar. Unless you don't care about knowing the plot.

So there's this guy that works for a company that is trying to destroy the natural habitat of native people for financial gain.
The guy transforms to look like the native people and gains there trust while falling in love with nature. The natives show him the way of their people and the "magic" of nature. They have a unique connection with the land and animals, and the protagonist learns (with a few blunders along the way) to have this same connection.
(Meanwhile he falls in love with the girl that found him - daughter of the leader and betrothed to another native)
The company moves in to destroy the habitat and by now the main guy has switched teams.
He tries to stop them but can't and the natives find out that he knew their destiny all along. Which they're pretty pissed about.
Eventually war breaks out and they realise they need his help.
They defeat the baddies with a few casualties.
Along the way there is beautiful scenery, flying through mountain ranges, attacks from animals and glowing plants creating just the right amount of ambiance.
Crysta becomes the new spiritual leader and Zak learns his lesson.
Oh right did I forget to mention that this is the synopsis of FernGully?

FernGully is even more like Avatar than Pocahontas with scenes literally mimicking each other.
And it's not just me that thinks this - my parents where waiting for me to see it so they could talk about the similarities.

FernGully is Australian and shows a lot of the native flora and fauna. Tim Curry and Robin Williams are in it. If you haven't seen it, you should.

thanks for everyone's help with the music tube! keep promoting it, hopefully it'll find it's feet soon.

Nice replying in my time of need guys.

Okay, so I've known for a while that no one reads these anyway.
So looks like I wont be posting much any more.

Feel free to check out http://the-music-tube.blogspot.com/ which even less people care about so...yeah...have fun with that.

hey I need your opinion.

So this new blog that I've been rambling about needs a name.

what do you think about "the music tube"? kind of a youtube/music thing going on. I mean, the name will become irrelevant in the end but at the start it needs to sound good. What do you think?

you saw it coming

Firstly,
I have gotten two more artists to agree to help me out concerning the project that I'm working on (written about in my last post) so it is fully underway and I will probably launch it in the next few days so keep your eyes peeled!

Secondly, you saw it coming.
The Beach Mission Rant.
It will be short, it will be sweet, and there will be many photo's.

Let's get right into it. no fluff here.

1. Paper Runs
I was coupled up with my new found friend Laura to go tell people in the caravan park what we where doing each day. This was great as we where pretty tight from the get-go and having a friend there when you're talking to strangers helps a lot.
The first few days she lead the conversations with the random tents we where asked to encounter but by the end I was confident that I knew what I was doing and we formed some pretty good relationships with the people we saw every day.

Anna, Jen, Kate, Me, Laura

2. Cooks Night Off
A group of us where invited by Rachel (a 15 year old girl coming along to the activities) for dinner one night with her family. We had a great night and the food was pretty darn tasty.

3. The Teens.
I was on the 16+ section and hadn't done anything of the sort before (well study camp, but that was different).
I met a bunch of cool kids and could speak with them (all thanks to God) a lot more freely than I expected. God has recently showed me that I can engage with teens and I'm constantly finding myself in positions where I have to - eg. this year I plan to go back to my highschool to lead a student-run ISCF. I think God has moved my passion from youngins to older kids and it's cool 'cause that's where I'm needed.

I had a few awesome convo's with the teens and many where surprised that we were Christians seeing as we were different to the experiences they had at school.

It was also pretty cool when you'd be walking around the caravan park and you'd hear your name called out only to see a teenage boy with a bunch of his mates waving to you.

Us with a bunch of the teens on their last night.

4. The Teens Team
There was six of us in total running the 16+ section. As you can image, we became pretty tight by the end as we started our activities when everyone else went to bed.
Some memorable times with this team included our late night sing-a-long on the beach, featuring Elliot and I rapping "Lose Yourself" by Eminem, much to our shame.

Elliot, Me, Liam, Christine, Pete, Janelle

5. The Drive
How can I forget to mention the drive? Four hours each way, in a car with Jen and Kate, the Glee soundtack booming and us singing to "Golddigger" at the top of our lungs - this was definitely a highlight.

Jen, Kate and I

If you're interested on going to a mission lemme know. And come to this one :D

More music soon, don't worry!

New Exciting Project - Please Read I need your help!

Hey guys,

So I am currently REALLY excited.

Here's why.

So hopefully you've read my last post about "The Oceanic Six", if not this will make less sense.

Recdently I've been looking for opportunitites to write on the internet for some practice.
Yesterday my brain went "bing" and I had an idea.

The idea is to create a blog where I write about bands who have an affiliation with Youtube. There are a stack of good bands all over Youtube and my idea is to provide a site where Youtbube lovers can go and see band reviews.

Here's the epic awesome part:
I emailed Luke Conard of "Oceanic Six" and told him of my plan. I asked if I could interview the band and review them as my first article.

He replied this morning eager to help :D

So, what can you do?
Well, when I make the Blog I'll post it up here. Your job is to join and tell others to join so this isn't a massive flop. Also, if you can comment on the blogs once they're up, that would be awesome. Even if it's something stupid.
Please join even if you don't like the idea, just so it's not me there with a bunch of reviews by myself, and once other people I don't know join, you can totally leave.

Additionally, once I write about "The Oceanic Six" (again on my other blog) go to their site and tell them where you heard about them.

This is Luke Conard (2600 subscribers) and his GF Kristina Horner (30 000 subscribers)

The Oceanic Six

"Hey, let's make a Harry Potter themed band"
"Dude, it's been done."
"Lord of the Rings?"
"Done!"
"Dr. Who?"
"Yeah, and go up against Chameleon Circuit? sure."
*thinks*
"I've got it.

Lost."

That's right, "The Oceanic Six" is a "Lost" themed band, and if you're not a "Lost" fan, may as well stop reading now because we're about to get lost.

I stumbled upon this band through Youtube - so you know their awesome.
I'm subscribed to Kristina Horner (http://www.youtube.com/user/italktosnakes) which posted a video of her and her BF Luke Conard singing an epic Ron/Hermione duet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d27qTpzBHKs)

I then subscribed to Luke Conard (http://www.youtube.com/user/lukeconard) who is in The Oceanic Six. Sorry if you're confused but we are talking "Lost" here, there's not really any other way to do it.

Okay, down to the band stuff.

Just as they claim to be, they're a mix of Electronica, Powerpop and Rock but don't let that description put you off if you're not into that scene. Still make sure you check them out if you're into Lost, and even if you're not.

Some of their songs include:
"Invisable Others"
"They Took My Son"
and "Mr. Eko""

My personal fave is "Good Morning Charlie" and here's a bit of the lyrics (which are all posted up so you can read along as you listen)

Good morning Charlie
This is Claire from flight 815
We're going to
crash but
The island is not what it seems

It's a chance to change
Remake your life

You'll kick the heroin
We'll fall in love

This is where we begin
Put the past behind us
What's done is done.

Also make sure to check out "Henry Gale" which is great to listen musically and is also pretty funny.
Not my usual style of music but they're talented with the computer, you gotta admit that. And their songs are genius.

This is an awesome band, and I was their 176th friend - and a band with less myspace friends than me is a little sad. So listen and tell your other "Lost"-loving friends and hopefully we can boost their egos a little.

Everything that i did
I did for the island
They just dont
understand

Jack, don't make that call,
it's the beginning of the end
Liar, Ben you're a liar

out with the old, in with the music.

So I realised that if I wasn't me and saw all the crap written on this blog, there's no way I would read it.

I've decided to stop boring you with my life, and instead I am going to only do music reviews from now on.

If there's anything you want me to review let me know and I will.

go.
